A Great Time at Galaxy 2018

I had a great time at Galaxy Comics and Entertainment Expo! This was my first time ever selling my artwork ever and this is a great start!

I probably sound like a kid talking about this, but here is my first table! Of course it’s tiny, but it actually exists!

Galaxy Comic Book and Fantasy Art Expo 2019

I’ll be exhibiting my work for the first time at the Galaxy Comic Book and Fantasy Art Expo on September 22!

It will be at the Joliet Historical Museum where you’ll meet a bunch of local Chicago-land artists, writers, sellers of comic and pop culture stuff, and of course, meet me in person for the first time!

There, I will be debuting Shirley’s Day, where you can pick up a signed printed book straight from me! But if you aren’t able to be there, I have the issues for sale as a print or digital piece! This is one of the few ways you can support me and my future work as an independent creator!

I’m excited and nervous, but all the efforts lead to all of this! So if you want to hang, high five me, have a chat, or support me in my future endeavors, stop by Galaxy this Friday!

I hope this will be the first of many events!

More Cover Progress

After a bit of internal hemming and hawing, I think I’ve completed my cover of my short comic, Shirley’s Day. I’ve been working on this comic on and off by myself for the past three years! It’s been super long but I’m hitting the home stretch!

I’ve made more progress over the week in finishing the cover to Shirley’s Day.

I’m a bit split on using blur, on the one had I want to push the main character forward as much as possible, but on the other hand it might look tacky and amateurish, so I overall decided not to.

The final few pieces of work for the cover. I decided to do something subtle and color the line art. I didn’t want to do it initially, but I felt I needed to make the cover as good as I can and put the effort in!

Shirleys Day Cover Illustration Process

I’ve been working on a new cover for Shirley’s Day over the past week. Here is a little bit of work in progress over the week. I have no pencils because I laid everything in blue pencil.

If I ever make any money off this comic, I’m the first thing I’m buying is some Pro-White.

Here are some thumbnail sketches of the covers as well.

7/15/2018 The Home Stretch

Bad news is that I made slightly less progress than I wanted on my stream painting this week. It’s not horrible, I managed I put down some rough colors for the characters, but I feel like I need to examine the color relationships a bit more.

But the good news is that, I’ve finished all of the interiors of Shirley’s Day! All that is left is to finish work on the cover, arrange the pages for mass print and I can finally have it complete!

Some sketches I made over the last week but I still haven’t posted on this site yet.

7/2/2018 Lettering Improvements

I’ve been away finishing up commissions but I finally gained the time to stream and put the finishing touches on Shirley’s Day.

It was mostly lettering and adding new dialogue, word balloons and bolding emphasized words to make the speech “sound” better.

I’ve been chipping away at this comic for so long that, I’m a bit mad at myself that I’m taking so long on it.

I’m getting closer to the finish line though. I just gotta keep at it and not get discouraged. It’s the only thing I can do, really.
