Last Saturday, I visited the Printer’s Row Lit Fest 2019 for the first time and it was pretty nice. I’d never heard of it until Dr. Chandler, author of Flawless Extra-Ordinary Super Heroes, told me about it. I met up with her and her family at her table there, chatted with some fans, signed books, and had a nice time.
Also, at Printer’s Row Lit Fest I encountered writers and artists such as Bizarro Writers Association, a writers group who specializes in Pulpy and Weird Fiction stories, the American Museum of Writers, who I had never heard of until now, Adam Fotos the only comic artist I found there, he created Dragon and Goat, a fun webcomic about the antics of a Dragon and a Goat plus a few more like Stella Jones, Megan Mackie, Norbert Krogstad, Ta’She’Ana Banks, Evan Rodgers, and Cloud Orchid Publishing.
I got some old books from the Powell’s Books Chicago tent for an excellent price. Next week, I’ll also be visiting Custer Fair in Evanston, IL! I’m not selling anything, but just checking the place out.
In other news, I’m slowly doing some cleanup to my website. I’ve been trying to take commissions and doing more to create more substantial work to completion.
I’m also changing up a few of my convention products: creating a printed sketchbooks, making stickers of some art pieces, dropping low selling prints and looking into other alternatives besides selling comic books.
I feel a sense of dread, insecurity and personal frustration with my work that I feel like I need to level up and be less crappy with my work. Very little of my body of work is finished and the little that is finished is woefully inadequate for anyone to look at.
I’ve been a bit quiet about it, but I’m also building up a Patreon account. I wanted to put it off more for when I had a bit more of a following but from the advice of peers, I decided to claim the spot for the future. At the moment I’m still figuring things out on Patreon, mostly posting Shirley’s Day and Incident at the Game Store things to test out the posting systems as I work on my next personal project.
It’s hard to keep that commitment to regular updates with a regular day job but I have no other support alternatives at the moment at the moment so tell your friends when you can!
